A workshop for middle school teachers to use the Alice 3-D programming software to teach Computer Science.

To equip Computer Science/ICT teachers and educators in Pakistan with the skills to teach our Computer Science curriculum

This has been a successful project in Qatar, and we wish to expand this learning experience to students in Pakistan.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Teachers, educators, parents and counsellors who want to teach their students basics of computer science using a fun and visual tool.

Overview

In this Three-day workshop, you will learn to use the Alice tool. You will also learn about how the unique 3-D environment of Alice, can be used for storytelling using character animation. This approach has significant motivational effects in students, especially girls. We will also provide a supporting curriculum that uses Alice to integrate the CS and ICT subjects in a cohesive manner in the middle school.

Dr. Saquib Razak is an associate teaching professor of computer science at Carnegie Mellon University. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the State University of New York. His area of expertise includes computer science education, pervasive computing, Internet of Things, and wireless networks. He has been the lead in developing and introducing the integrated ICT and CS curriculum in public and private schools in Qatar.
